About the Role
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will lead specialists & medical staff, oversee training, implement medical initiatives, review adverse events & serve as a liaison for patient safety & training committees.
Qualifications:
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent (specialty certification preferred)
- 10+ years as a practicing veterinarian in a 24/7 specialty & emergency hospital
- 5+ years in a leadership role (Medical Director, Chief of Service, etc.)
- Strong leadership, communication & problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of veterinary laws & regulations
Responsibilities:
- Lead & manage veterinarians & medical staff
- Oversee training, new specialties & medical initiatives
- Review medical errors, complaints & adverse events
- Develop & implement medical policies & compensation strategies
- Serve as a liaison for patient safety & training committees
- Represent UVS at VSPA conferences
- Oversee infection control & regulatory compliance
- Promote best practices & professional development
